Adobe
has released a free update to Illustrator 9. The new version,
9.0.1, fixes bugs and improves overall performance of the application.
Adobe says this update does not yet address compatibility issues
with Photoshop 6 but that an update will be available later
this year.
New
features in Illustrator 9.0.1 include:

Enhanced
Performance: Selecting artwork and working in Outline mode
is faster.

Optimized
internally to take advantage of the Macintosh G4 Velocity
Engine and Intel Pentium III processors' Streaming SIMD Extensions.

Scratch
disk use is minimized.

Exporting
files to SVG format is faster.

Improved
File Integrity: The window shade issue is resolved.

Groups
included in compound paths round trip when saved as PDF 1.3
and 1.4.

Vertically
scaled text now exports correctly to SVG.

Euro character now displays and prints correctly.

Stability: Opening files no longer generates erroneous out
