State of the Art Awards
Best Art & Design Products of the Year

Best Web Graphics Editor
Our next winner was a product new to me this year. I had never touched the thing before February, and now I couldn't imagine putting up a Web site without it. The program is Fireworks from Macromedia. Why do I like it? Well, for one thing, it has absolutely the best JPEG compressor in the business. For another, it's a really nice program to work in. For example, it can use Photoshop filters, but the filter effects remain editable, so you can change or remove them whenever you'd like. (This differs from "History" in other programs by the fact that the effects remain editable even after leaving the program and coming back later.) It's capabilities are much stronger than any other Web graphics editor, and its ease of use is outstanding. This is another program none of us here at Digital Media Net could do without.
