YARC Systems
today released its first Macintosh Ethernet Postscript RIP for
the Hewlett Packard DesignJet series of wide-format printers.
Based on version 3.0 of YARC's Xtreme software RIPs, the new Ethernet
transport supports all DesignJets with an HP JetDirect interface.
(JetDirect printers do not natively support printing from the
Macintosh.)
According
to YARC, full ColorSync ICC is built in, as well as YARC's CMYK-based
ICC-Tuning technology. DesignJets without a network interface
can be driven directly from the Mac using a USB to Parallel adapter
cable, also available from YARC. A copy of the RIP, for free evaluation,
is available from the YARC's Web site. Ink compensation curves
for HP DesignJets 750, 755, 2000, 2500, 3000 and 3500 are supplied
with the evaluation download. The evaluation download has all
the features of the full product, but is limited to a maximum
printing width of 24 inches. The Retail Pack is available now,
and priced at $749.
