Epson has announced two new four-color inkjet printers for use with Macintosh systems. Epson touts the new printers as "whisper-quiet." The new models include the Stylus Color 83 and Stylus Color 880i feature up to 2,880 x 720 DPI resolution and 4 picoliter droplets. The printers deliver up to 12 pages per minute in black text and up to nine PPM for text and color graphics.

Priced at $169 (following a $30 mail-in rebate), the Stylus Color 83 also includes a coupon in for a free matching ergonomic printer stand. The Stylus Color 880i is priced at $149 and offers an "ice" exterior case with a transparent graphite lid.

Both printers have also been engineered for greater saturation, improved shadows and highlights that result in intense detail, according to Epson.

The Stylus Color 83 and Stylus Color 880i come with a software bundle that includes Film Factory for collecting and organizing digital photos and Trellix Web for creating personalized Web sites. Also included are ArcSoft Photo Impression 2000 and ArcSoft Photo Montage.
