Helios Software is now shipping PDF Handshake 2.0, a prepress workflow system for PDF files, from layout to output, including ColorSync/ICC-based integrated color management and flexible production and output options, including features like "Create PDF Server" and "PDF Internet Printing."

Users of QuarkXPress and Adobe InDesign can work with PDF input just as they would with EPS or TIFF images. Helios PDF Handshake 2.0 provides printing and OPI support for PDF documents that have already been separated, enabling either composite or separated input or output. In addition, Helios Print Preview supports a composite soft proof of the separated or composite PDF documents.

PDF Handshake 2.0 supports Adobe's PDF specification v.1.3/Acrobat 4; Color separation to create CMYK and spot color plates; ColorSync/ICC color management where RGB/Lab colors are converted to CMYK; "Overprint Black" support; PDF RGB-grayscales are detected and converted to black only; Proof simulation (proofer simulates the final output, including paper); Font management; TrueType support; CID-font support; OPI references within the PDF document replaced by EtherShare OPI; Optional Print Preview enables a bitmap preview to verify output; Automatic OPI EPSF layout creation; bleeding and registration marks are supported.

PDF Handshake is available now for about $3,500. For more information, visit http://www.helios.de.
