Microtek
has started bundling a low-end digital camera with its ScanMaker
4600 image scanner. The MN100 digital camera is a 100,000-pixel
CCD still camera capable of capturing audio and 30 FPS low-resolution
as well. It can also function as a Webcam for live streaming.
Microtek says the bundle is the first "complete Internet-ready
digital imaging solution with a USB scanner and digital camera
combination" designed for Web users.
The USB
ScanMaker 4600 is a 42-bit, 2,400 x 1,200 DPI flatbed scanner.
Also designed for the Web, the 4600 includes three push buttons
for scanning, copying and e-mailing images. An expandable FlexScan
Lid is included for scanning bulky items, and an optional transparency
adapter is available. The adapter can be used to scan positive
or negative film in a 7" x 7" and up to nine 35 mm slides at
one time.
The MN100
digital camera includes a USB cable, carrying strap, swivel
tripod and four AAA alkaline batteries. The ScanMaker 4600 also
includes Microtek's ScanWizard 5, Adobe PhotoDeluxe, Ulead PhotoImpact,
Ulead PhotoExplorer, OmniPage LE and ScanSoft PageKeeper Standard.
The ScanMaker 4600 and MN100 camera bundle sells for $180. The
scanner without the digital camera is $160. For more information,
