ScenicSoft says it will start shipping Color Central 3.7 to customers in February but is taking orders now. Color Central is a print management solution that automatically reduces image file sizes for fast handling during production, then restoring the full image data for final output. This server-based software also automates printing activity by sending files to queues. Color Central then directs the files to network PostScript printers or imagesetters, load-balancing the work. It also provides security and auditing features for optimal control of the userŐs environment.

The Macintosh server version of Color Central 3.7 contains major upgrades, bringing its OPI and print management capabilities level with those currently available in the Windows version, according to ScenicSoft. Both Windows and Macintosh versions of Color Central 3.7 are localized for the European market, and the software is available in English, French, German, and Spanish on a single CD.

In addition to feature parity, ScenicSoft will also offer a "lite" entry-level version of Color Central 3.7, available for both Windows and Macintosh platforms, for $1,500. Color Central Lite supports six input queues and three output devices.

Prior to ScenicSoft's acquisition of Imation Publishing Software (which previously owned Color Central), product development was focused primarily on the Windows NT server market.

ScenicSoft Sales is taking orders immediately for Color Central 3.7, which will ship to customers early February. For more information, visit http://www.scenicsoft.com.
