Electronics for Imaging (EFI), the company behind Fiery PostScript RIPs, has partnered with Pageflex to develop software for variable data printing. Under the agreement, the companies plan to incorporate Pageflex VDP technologies into EFI products.

The two companies will be pushing PPML as an industry standard for VDP. PPML, or personalized print markup language, is also the open standard being promoted by the Print on Demand Initiative.

Pageflex is the company behind Mpower and Persona. Mpower is an enterprise software solution for designing and producing Web-driven marketing communications. Pageflex Persona is a variable content desktop publishing application for Windows NT. It allows users to create personalized, four-color documents using Pageflex’s XML-based NuDoc page composition engine.
