Group Logic today announced the release of version 2.0 of its ExtremeZ-IP file and print server software. ExtremeZ-IP 2.0 includes an optional IP Print Support feature that allows the Internet Protocol to be used for all network activity, eliminating the need for the AppleTalk protocol on the Mac. Targeted toward the graphic design and prepress markets, this server is designed to improve network performance and save time in network and printing operations.

IP Print Support was demonstrated as a prototype in August 2000 at the Seybold conference in San Francisco and has since completed successful beta testing. Results include faster transfer of print jobs, improved ease of use in configuring printers from Macintosh workstations, and a wide choice of output devices, including OPI and RIP servers.

Group Logic itself is the company behind MassTransit and Imagexpo. MassTransit is an automation and management solution for transferring graphics, multimedia and other files between print media suppliers and customers. Imagexpo is a remote softproofing solution that uses annotation and interactive conferencing capabilities for the review and approval of text and graphics prior to production of print media.

ExtremeZ-IP with optional IP Print Support is priced based on the number of Macintosh clients in the user's network. For more information, visit http//:www.grouplogic.com.
