SoftPress
has released version 3.1 of Freeway, it's Web design and page
layout tool. Freeway 3.1 includes new features and performance
improvements, as well as maintenance enhancements, according to
SoftPress. Freeway takes an approach to Web page layout similar
to desktop publishing tools and is targeted to designers. It includes
support for multiple master pages; typographical features (such
as converting typefaces to GIFs, while maintaining their editability);
cascading style sheets; built-in graphics optimization; rollover
editing; and JavaScripting. However, Freeway 3.1 requires GX support
and will not work properly with ATM (Lite or Deluxe) 4.6.1 installed.
New features in version 3.1 include:
- Ability
to modify links and backgrounds in Flash files within Freeway's
Flash
Extras interface;
- JavaScript
handling for Actions has been substantially extended, with
57 new additions to the JavaScript API;
- Freeway's
text processing has been optimized to make editing of
large documents faster;
- Arabic
font encoding support has been included.
SoftPress
is offering a special pricing promotion for a limited time, as
well as discount pricing for educational customers and those taking
advantage of their crossgrade offer. The 3.1 upgrade is free to
3.0 users. The full, boxed version costs $249 regularly. A demo
version is available on their site. For more information, visit
