Nikon To Release Digital SLRs
5.47 megapixel camera shoots three frames per second

Nikon today announced the impending release of two new digital SLR cameras. The company says the new models are the fastest on the market, with high-speed image processing that produces three frames per second on the D1X for up to nine consecutive shots at resolutions up to 5.47 megapixels. The other new camera, the D1H, produces up to five frames per second for up to 40 shots at 2.74 megapixels.

Features of both cameras include:

  • 3D Multi-Sensor Balanced Fill-Flash controlled by newly developed algorithm
  • Two color modes selectable for different workflow environments (optimized for sRGB color space and Adobe RGB color space)
  • Newly developed 130,000-dot TFT LCD color monitor with white LED backlighting
  • Custom Setting menu (offering 35 different settings) is displayed on LCD color monitor (in four languages: English, French, German, Japanese)
  • One-touch playback for rapid review and instant return to Shooting Mode
  • Enlarged playback with 100 percent area-accurate playback coverage on LCD color monitor and thumbnail playback (in either 9 or 4 segments)
  • Supports CompactFlash Card (Type I/II) and Microdrive
  • RS-232C interface for connection to GPS position information unit
  • Top shutter speed of 1/16,000 sec. and flash sync speed up to 1/500 second.
