Extensis has added support for QuarkXPress in its preflighting service called Preflight Online. This service allows users to diagnose problems with documents via the Internet without additional software.

With Preflight Online, document specs become available to service provider in advance, as documents are preflighted before the job is transmitted or shipped. It's self-installing and self-updating for any user with a Web browser. It can also batch process multiple files and tracks customer usage, most common document problems, error per customer and other data.

Preflight Online now remotely inspects and analyzes QuarkXPress 4.x files, reporting on more than 60 different potential problems involving fonts, colors, images and other document specifications, according to Extensis. The Web-delivered service analyzes all fonts and images used within QuarkXPress documents to create a report that can be accessed by printers and service bureaus before customers submit files for output at the printer.
