Roland DGA has introduced a new eight-color 64" inkjet printer. The Hi-Fi Jet Pro FJ-600 uses Hexachrome technology licensed from Pantone to simulate about 97 percent of PMS colors. Roland is the only company currently offering Hexachrome in its wide-format models.

Hexachrome is a process developed by Pantone that adds orange and green to the CMYK palette. The FJ-600 also uses light cyan and light magenta for more accurate color reproduction.

The printer also offers variable droplet technology to adjust the size of ink droplets depending on the type of output. It automatically adjusts droplet sizes larger for solid areas, smaller in pastel.

In eight-color mode, the LJ-600 prints CMYK plus OG and LcLm at a maximum resolution of 1,440 x 1,440 DPI. For faster throughput up to 127 square feet per hour, it can be loaded with two sets of CMYK.

Jet Pro series comes with the latest version of Roland ColorChoice software RIP for Macintosh and Windows. RCC is the first Adobe PostScript 3 compatible RIP that provides full eight-color printing with automatic variable droplet control. In addition, RCC enables users to RIP and print simultaneously.

The FJ-600 has a list price of $20,995 and includes Ethernet connectivity. For more information on Hexachrome, visit http://www.pantone.com. For more information on ROland DGA, visit http://www.rolanddga.com.
