Animating separate states in LiveMotion
by Stephen Schleicher

Now double click on the Star Base layer to open its composition. You will know you are in the sub/nested composition because the Movie Clip Menu will read Star Base.

[an error occurred while processing this directive]To the left of the Movie Clip menu you will see a black back arrow. Click this to go back to the Base Comp.

Once again select the Star Base layer in the Timeline. We are going to create three different movements or States for this star and then link to those States. But first we need to create those other States.

Open the States Palette (F11) and you will notice that the Star Base layer has a Normal State from which we can modify. We will not modify this State, but instead create our own custom shape.

Click on the New State Icon at the bottom of the State Palette. By default LiveMotion will create an Over State for the Star layer. We don’t want the Over State, so click on the drop down menu and select Custom State.

You will then be prompted to name this new State. Name it Rotation and click OK.

You will now notice that the Star Base layer now reads Star Base (Rotation). If you click on the Normal State in the State Palette, the layer will change back to Star Base. Click back on the Rotation State in the State Palette.
