Now that Knoll Light Factory is available for every popular professional application, including Adobe After Effects, Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Eyeon's Digital Fusion, Autodesk Combustion, Smoke, Flame, Apple Final Cut Pro, Motion, and Avid, editors and compositors need to know how to use it effectively.David Vincent hosts a series of movies on a DVD and accompanying QuickTime movies to get users familiar with the application.
The overview is completed and features are explained in Adobe After Effects 7.0, but the control parameters for Knoll Light Factory are the same in each host application, even if the graphic user interface is different. There are two separate products explained, Light Factory Pro and Light Factory Editors.
The "Editors" version, although animatable, does not give you the specific design control that the "Pro" version affords. Because effects are usually added during the online, with a compositor, offline editors will be fine with the version that offers fewer options.
David goes through each version separately. There are elements from each that can cross from one plugin to the other, but it is important to note the differences for the pipeline work flow for the different end users.
For editors and compositors new to lens flare usage, or who want to understand how to use every aspect of the plugin, this DVD is an excellent resource; not only full of an overviews and separate tutorials, but also tips and tricks to compositing.
For those of us who remember when it was only option A, B, or C in Photoshop, and have mastered the plugin since then - this training DVD will take the onus off you, and allow your junior and intermediate staffers to learn it by themselves without taking an hour out of your busy day.
You can purchase the training as well as the new Knoll Light Factory version 2.5 plugin or upgrades from our friends over at TOOLFARM.com.
