Confirmed keynote speakers include Sabeer Bhatia, founder of Hotmail, the first web-based e-mail service, who is now building a Nano city from the ground up in India; Dr. Vinod K. Agarwal, Chairman of SemIndia -- the "MCC" of India -- who is working with the Indian government to build a semiconductor industry; Anu Shukla, serial entrepreneur and named to the Tech Industry's "Dream Team" by Business 2.0 magazine who will share her views on women in the high-tech world of Silicon Valley; Joe Liemandt, CEO of Trilogy, Inc., whose industry-leading approach to customer success has been featured in Newsweek, Fortune, Harvard Business Review and CNN; and Dr. Mendu Rao, Dean of the Indian School of Business, who is building a world-class MBA program.
Budding Austin entrepreneurs will want to attend as these keynote speakers bring their knowledge to discuss a range of topical and controversial issues such as how to connect with venture capital firms, how to build the next YouTube, and how to start a successful global company from the ground up.
Central Texas business students are also encouraged to attend to hear Bill Simcoe, UT MBA candidate, share his internship experience after being chosen by TiE Austin as its first "Apprentice." Last year, TiE Austin did its version of Donald Trump's "The Apprentice" TV show by running a competitive internship program in which business students competed for an internship with a high tech firm. After three rigorous rounds, Simcoe was chosen to intern with ClearCube Technology. "I was so fortunate to go through the Apprentice competition and get such a valuable learning experience at ClearCube," he stated.
In addition to the keynote speakers, the TiEcon 2006 conference will have several panel discussions on topics and issues critical to the new global economy including emerging business trends, blurred business boundaries and shifting investment strategies.
"The program has been designed to emphasize networking and perspective-sharing among industry professionals," commented Anurag Kumar, President of TiE Austin. "It's also a unique opportunity for entrepreneurs to interact directly with investors."
TiEcon will be held at the Renaissance Hotel in Austin on Friday, November 17th from 8am - 5:30pm.
